Attorney-General of Gombe, Abdulhameed Ibrahim, dies

The attorney-general and commissioner of justice, Abdulhameed Ibrahim, has been reported dead at the age of 58.

The commissioner reportedly passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 22, at a hospital in India where he went for a medical follow up.

According to Premium Times, his demise was confirmed by his personal assistant, Auwal Kala.

According to the report, Ibrahim worked in both the private and public sectors before his appointment by Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo in 2011.

“He was at a time legal secretary of the Savannah Sugar Company in Adamawa State and later Chairman of Akko Local Government Area of Gombe state. He also worked with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) as a deputy director of administration.

“The deceased also served as assistant director, Legal Drafting Department, Federal Ministry of Justice and as a legal officer in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. He was survived by two wives and 10 children.”

It will be recalled that less than a week after the National Assembly mourned the death of Umar Buba Jibril, one of its members representing Lokoja/Kogi/Koton Karfe, the Senate is again grieving as a senior lawmaker, Mustapha Bukar, has died.
