Liverpool will silence Ronaldo in the Champions League final - Lovren

Croatia international Dejan Lovren says Liverpool have concluded plans to silence Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo when both sides clash in the Champions League final this weekend in Kiev according to Tribal Football.

The Reds reach their first UCL final for the first time after eleven years when they edged AS Roma out in the semifinal stage of the championship.

Lovren admits that the Portuguese forward has been impressive all season long – scoring 15 goals in the competition.

However, the former Olympique Lyon player claims his side are used to playing against star striker and Ronaldo will not be a difference – adding that they are prepared mark down the forward.

"Throughout 15 years, every year he (Ronaldo) scores more than 30 goals," Lovren said.

"Even if he has a bad season he scores 30 goals, so you need to pay attention to that.

"We play in the Premier League against some of the best strikers in the world and we know how to defend like a team.

"Of course some parts of the game it will be one-against-one. It will be tough but it's a challenge that I'm ready for."

Lovren was superb for his Premier League side in the recently concluded season, scoring two goals in EPL matches as they finished fourth on the table.

He joined Liverpool from Southampton after the 2013-14 season and has featured for the Anfield side 108 times with four goals to his credit. earlier reported that Liverpool trained at Anfield on Monday, May 21, ahead of the Champions League final clash with Real Madrid on Saturday May 26.

Red stars Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane took to their home turf for a training session with the big match in Kiev this weekend.
