Former Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic picked his first red card in LA Galaxy’s Major League Soccer clash against Montreal Impact last weekend.

The former Manchester United striker was handed a marching order after slapping one of his opponents in the game that ended in favour of the StubHub Center outfit.

Ola Kamara scored the only goal for the visitors as LA Galaxy ran away with maximum points from the encounter at the Saputo Stadium.

Reports from the match revealed that Michael Petrasso seemed to have mistakenly stepped on Ibra's foot in an off-the-ball incident during the first half of their MLS clash.

In reaction, the Swedish striker lashed out at the Canadian winger and was immediately ordered to leave the pitch as his side were reduced to 10 men following a video review.

Despite being reduced to 10 men at some point in the game, Galaxy were still able to grind out result to end their four straight games without a win.

The former Paris Saint Germain joined the MLS side on a free transfer in January and netted world class goals on his debut in an amazing 4-3 derby win over Los Angeles FC.

And has now scored three goals in eight appearances for the Western Conference side, who move up to seventh in the 12-team league.

According to the Sun, Ibrahimovic might be banned for at least three matches – enough time to make a trip to the World Cup in Russia as an ambassador for Visa.

However, before he joined his present club in the United States, he has featured for Ajax, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan and he won titles in almost all the teams he has played for.

He won a Europa League title, one UEFA Super Cup, A FIFA Club World Cup along with several other domestic league titles at different clubsides in years back.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Zlatan Ibrahimovic was not included in Sweden squad for this year's FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The 36-year-old had hinted he might come out of international retirement for him to play at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but his hopes have been defeated.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is commonly rated as the greatest ever Swedish footballer but quit the national team after their dire showing at Euro 2016.
