Allegations against IGP - Senate delegation to meet Buhari on Tuesday, May 22

- After Senate plenary on Tuesday, May 22, a delegation will be meeting with President Buhari

- The lawmakers will be meeting with the president over allegations by the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, against the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris

- A source said the meeting will be holding on Tuesday afternoon

A Senate delegation will be meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, May 22, over allegation by the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, against the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris.

Recall that Idris was accused by the Senate president on Wednesday, May 16, of planning to implicate him in the trial of some suspected cult members apprehended in Kwara state.

A source said on Monday, May 21, that the meeting between the president and the Senate delegation will be held on Tuesday after plenary, Punch reports.

Legit.ng notes that the source said: “The meeting with the president will hold tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon."

The Senate president will be leading the delegation, whose members comprised of the majority leader, Ahmad Lawan; minority leader, Godswill Akpabio; chief whip, Sola Adeyeye; Senators Danjuma Goje, Abdullahi Adamu, Samuel Egwu, Aliyu Wamakko, Fatima Raji-Rasaki and Oluremi Tinubu.

Legit.ng previously reported that Saraki alleged that there was a plot by the IG of Police Ibrahim Idris to implicate him in a crime.

Saraki, who made the allegation on Wednesday, May 16, during plenary, claimed that the IGP had ordered that some suspected cultists arrested in Kwara state be transferred to Abuja, where they were expected to make statements that would implicate him.

Saraki said: “My Distinguished Colleagues, there is an issue I need to bring to your attention urgently. Last night, a group of suspects that had been arrested in Kwara state for cultism and whose investigations had been completed, and were about to go under prosecution under state law under the advice of the DPP and Ministry of Justice."
