West Ham United name Manuel Pellegrini new manager

- West Ham United have appointed Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager

- The 64-year-old replaces David Moyes who has left the Premier League club

- The Hammers finished 13th best at the just concluded EPL season

Premier League campaigners West Ham United have named Chilean professional football manager Manuel Pellegrini as their new gaffer.

After leaving his position at Hebei China Fortune, the 64-year-old was said to have flew to London last weekend before being appointed by West Ham chiefs.

According to BBC, negotiations were concluded on Monday night, May 21, allowing the former Manchester City gaffer to return to the Premier League.

Manuel Pellegrini however succeeds David Moyes who was released at the end of his contract after guiding the Hammers to a 13th place finish at the just concluded EPL season.

Chilean Pellegrini will be joined at London Stadium by assistant Ruben Cousillas for their campaign next term.

Born on 16 September, 1953, Manuel Pellegrini is a qualified civil engineer and former footballer who retired from playing in 1984.

After retiring from football, he moved into coaching, and Pellegrini has won national Leagues in four different countries.

In 2013, he was appointed Manchester City manager, and won the Football League Cup and Premier League title in his first season at the Etihad.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how former Manchester United boss David Moyes left West Ham on May 16, 2018 as he was said to be livid with the ways the club treated him.

Moyes had been expecting to hold talks with West Ham co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold to see about extending his stay at the club.
