It has been revealed that investigations on Monday, May 21 showed that internal consultations are on top gear by some members of the Imo chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in a bid to pave way for the state governor, Rochas Okorocha, to return to the party.
This was confirmed by the fact that many youths across the 27 local government areas of the state, under Imo Renewal Movement (IRYM) endorsed Tony Nwulu, representing Oshodi/Isolo 2 federal constituency of Lagos, for 2019 gubernatorial election in the state, Vanguards reports.
Vanguard reported that members of the party had met with some party executives and stakeholders who gave their consent.
The APGA members were said to have targeted before the campaigns for party primaries to kick off, in order to finalize their assignment of Governor Okorocha rejoining the party.
Moreover, the team is said to have intensified it moves following the outsmarting of Okorocha, by a group known as Imo APC Allied forces, in the just concluded party congresses.
On Nwulu's endorsement for Governor, IRYM youths led by Chukwu Kelechi Kingsley, said: “Therefore, in a bid to ensuring Imolites never repeated mistakes of the past.
"We hereby beckon and demand Tony Chinedu Nwulu, a trusted and tested member of the House of representatives. We have taken out time to study Imo individuals and have found a character worthy of note in the person of Nwulu.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the chairman of APGA, Victor Oye had said that the party would take over eight more states in the country, having emerged victorious in the Saturday, November 18 governorship election in Anambra state.
Legit.ng that he said the party has already drawn a road map to achieve the feat ahead of the 2019 elections, adding that APGA remains the only party with a clear ideology.
