- The Gunners are eyeing a move for outgone PSG manager Unai Emery this summer
- Arsenal are also planning to sign former player Mikel Arteta as the assistant manager to the Spaniard
- The Emirates Stadium side finished 6th on the Premier League log this recently concluded season
Premier League campaigners Arsenal are reportedly planning to hire former Paris Saint Germain manager Unai Emery this summer.
The Gunners are also want to sign former Gunners midfielder Mikel Arteta as the club’s assistant manager ahead of the coming season according to Express UK.
Emery joined the Parisians in the summer of 2016 and has won a total of seven titles with the Parc Des Princes side.
He was however unable to lead PSG to glory in Europe, as they were bundled out of the Champions League competition in the last two seasons by Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, the former Sevilla boss has been replaced at the French club by Thomas Tuchel as they hope to excel on the continent next term.
The Gunners have now shifted their attention to the former Spanish footballer, who had previously looked set to appoint former captain Arteta over the weekend.
According to Daily Mail the 36-year-old is still in the race for the Gunners’ managerial position which was left open after Wenger decided to leave the club this summer.
The Europa League semifinalists are more interested in giving the Manchester City assistant the chance to lead the team despite his lack of experience in the dugout. Emery, on the other hand, boasts an impressive CV from his time around Europe.
The 46-year-old was impressive for the Spanish League side after helping them to three straight wins in the UEFA Europa League tournament on a relatively small budget.
Daily Mail believes Emery's work at Sevilla is probably the main reason he has been for the Arsenal role, while Thierry Henry has also been touted as Arsene Wenger's replacement this summer.
But fellow countryman Patrick Vieira appears to be out of the running after reports emerged of the former midfielder agreeing a deal with Ligue 1 side Nice.
Before joining PSG two seasons back, he was at Sevilla, Spartak Moscow, Almeria and Valencia, and he is famous for his Europa League feat with Los Hispalensis.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the Gunners were interested in signing Unai Emery once he leaves his position as PSG's head coach.
The Spaniard spent just two seasons in charge at the Parc Des Princes and won a league title for them in his two-year reign at the club.
However, the only issue is that Emery wants around £8.5m a year to move to the capital when he leaves PSG and Arsenal will surely be reluctant to part with such a figure after a large outlay in January.
