Nigeria to experience cloudy skies, rainy activities on Sunday, May 20

- Central states of the country will on Sunday, May 20, experience cloudy morning conditions

- NiMet has predicted slim chances of isolated thunderstorms over Abuja, Jos, Minna and Kaduna

- The agency also predicts that southern cities would experience localised rains over the coastal cities and cloudy conditions over the inland states

Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy morning conditions over the central states on Sunday, May 20 with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over Jos and Yola.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Saturday also predicted daytime temperatures in the range of 29 degrees to 34 degrees and night temperatures of 18 degrees to 25 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

It added that there were slim chances of isolated thunderstorms over Abuja, Jos, Minna and Kaduna later in the day.

The agency predicted that the southern states would experience localised rains over the coastal cities and cloudy conditions over the inland states in the morning hours.

It also predicted localised thunderstorms/showers over the coastal and inland cities in the afternoon and evening with day temperatures of 28 degrees to 34 degrees and night temperatures of 21 degrees to 25 degrees Celsius.

According to NiMet, northern states will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions during the forecast period with day temperatures in the range of 33 degrees to 40 degrees and night temperatures of 23 degrees to 29 degrees Celsius.

“Cloudy conditions are anticipated over most parts of the country with prospects of isolated thunderstorms and rain showers expected over some cities within the next 24 hours,” NiMet stated.
