Jose Mourinho claims his team deserved to win the FA Cup

- Jose Mourinho believes Manchester United were better than Chelsea in Saturday's FA Cup final

- The Red Devils were beaten 1-0 by the Blues through Eden Hazard's penalty at Wembley

- Mourinho claims Chelsea defended with nine players and did not deserve to win the match

Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho has claimed that his team were the better side that deserved to win the 2017/18 English FA Cup title which they lost to rivals Chelsea.

Belgian football star Eden Hazard scored the only goal that condemned Manchester United to a defeat at Wembley on Saturday, May 19.

The defeat means Manchester United ended the just concluded Premier League season without a trophy which is bizarre in Jose Mourinho's managerial career.

"I congratulate them because they won, but I think we deserved to win. I am a sportsman and they scored one more goal. I have to do what my job asks me to do.

“I am the Man Utd manager and I have to be respectful, not just because they were my previous club.

“But because they were the opponents that won the FA Cup. I think we deserved the win. We were the best team. But that is football.

“I am quite curious to know what you will say, what people will write, because I can only imagine if my team played like Chelsea, I can imagine what people would say.

“It was hard to play without Lukaku, against a team that defended with nine players. We need that presence in the box, we tried absolutely everything.

“They played defensively. We knew that, we knew the way they would play with little ambition in their counter attack, especially after going 1-0 up,'' Mourinho explained according to UK Sun.

Earlier, had reported how Chelsea defeated Manchester United by 1-0 in the FA Cup final played at the Wembley stadium through an Eden Hazard's penalty.

The Belgium international's superb control from a counter attack beat Phil Jones as he raced clear on a one-on-one situation with De Gea.

Jones fouled Hazard in the box as a penalty was awarded to Chelsea and Hazard sends De Gea the wrong way to score the only goal of the match.
