Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has warned Lionel Messi that Real Madrid would defeat Liverpool in the Champions League final, Daily Star, quoting Diario Gol.
The two European heavyweights will lock horns in the finals of the showpiece in Kiev next week.
Both Real Madrid and Liverpool have had mixed success domestically but have dazzled on the European stage.
According to Spanish news media outlet Diario Gol have claimed Pique has informed his pal that he expects a Los Blancos win.
The Spain international has pointed out that Real have not lost an European final since 1981 which however was a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool through an Alan Kennedy’s second-half goal.
Barca have had an impressive campaign but Messi and Pique are reportedly worried that Real triumphing in Kiev could overshadow their achievements this term.
Ernesto Valverde’s side have romped to La Liga glory but have just fallen just short of going the season unbeaten after losing to Levante last weekend.
The minnows beat Barca 5-4 in a nine-goal thriller in the penultimate match of the season as star man Messi was not in the squad for the game.
The Granotas held on to claim a famous victory despite a Philippe Coutinho hat-trick and Luis Suarez penalty.
Barca face Real Sociedad tomorrow as the season draws to a close while Real will be travelling to play Villareal.
