A 21-year-old man identified as Olaleye Suyi, has been remanded in Ile-Ife prison by an Osun state magistrate's court for allegedly stabbing his friend, Oladele Kayode, in the face while asleep.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyituyi, the accused committed the offence on May 15 at about 11.30 am at Line 3, Aladanla street, Ile-Ife, Punch reports.
Legit.ng notes that the Osanyintuyi said told the court that the accused caused Kayode grievous bodily harm by allegedly stabbing him with a knife in the face several times due to a misunderstanding.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened section 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of causing grievous harm, while Olalekan Babatunde, the defence counsel, urged the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms, promising that the suspect would not jump bail and would produce reliable sureties.
Before adjourning the case till July 13 for hearing, the magistrate, Olalekan Ijiyode, directed the defence counsel to present a formal application for bail, while also ordering that the accused be remanded in Ile-Ife prison pending the hearing of the bail application.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a female lawyer, Yewande Oyediran, who was accused of stabbing her husband to death was sentenced to seven years in jail.
The accused, who was said to have stabbed her husband multiple times during a fiery argument, was found guilty of manslaughter on Monday, November 27, 2017.
