- Neuer set to stage a return for Bayern Munich in the German Cup final against Eintracht Frankfurt
- The 32-year-old has been out of action since last year September after suffering a devastating injury in one of his side's league games
- He has also been included in the Germany World Cup preliminary squad with the hope of getting fully fit for the championship
Germany international Manuel Neuer is back in Bayern Munich’s squad for this weekend’s DFB-Pokal final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The World Cup winning goalkeeper spent most part of this season recovering from the foot surgery he suffered during his side’s 4-0 win in the German League over Mainz on September 16, 2017.
He however has recuperated well enough to be named in the match day squad for the first time in over eight months.
According to Goal.com, the team’s stand-in goalkeeper, Sven Ulreich is tipped to start for the Bavarians when they host Frankfurt at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Saturday, May 19.
Also making a return to the team is Thomas Muller, who had earlier this week suffered a stomach bug, but the duo of Arjen Robben and defender Jerome Boateng have been ruled out with ongoing muscle problems.
Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal will also miss the cup final as he continues to recover from knee surgery he underwent earlier this season.
The Bundesliga champions are hoping to complete a domestic double with victory in what will be Jupp Heynckes' final match in charge.
Neuer has also been included in Germany's preliminary squad for the World Cup, and might make the 23-man squad if he passes fitness test.
The 32-year-old German joined the Bavarians in the summer of 2011 from fellow Bundesliga side, Schalke 04 , and has since then clinched six topflight titles.
He was a part of the Bayern team that won Champions League title in the 2012-13 season with a number of other domestic and continental cups.
Neuer won the FIFA World Cup for the first time in his career after helping his country to overcome Argentina in the final of the last edition in Brazil.
Legit.ng previously reported that the Germany goalkeeper is likely to miss this year's World Cup following his ability to recover fully from the injury he suffered earlier in the season.
He has not featured for both club and country since last September when his side claimed a 4-0 win over Mainz in a league game.
