- Nigerian man shares the story of how he was almost scammed on social media
- The man stated that a woman who came to him for help over hospital bill tried to collect more money than she needed
- He explained that the money was for her child's hospital bill
Akin Alabi, the founder of a Nigerian sport betting website NairaBET, has narrated the story of how he was almost scammed by a woman who needed help. The man revealed that a woman had contacted him to pay for her child's health care.
Alabi who shared his story on Twitter revealed that the woman had asked him to give her N150,000 for her child's hospital bill. He stated that he had asked his assistant to verify if the woman truly needed help.
The assistant discovered that the woman needed N47,000 but she had already paid N10,000 and all she needed was N37,000 not N150,000. Alabi revealed that he paid the N37,000 and blocked the woman's number.
According to him, he was disappointed that a woman would use her child's health to scam someone else. He stated that he was baffled that someone who needs help would do something like that to gain more money.

The young man who expressed that he was disappointed by the fact that some Nigerians were supporting what the lady did just because she might have needed the money for something else shared the post on Instagram.
He said: "I shared this on twitter and I couldn’t believe it that our so called youths, the future of Nigeria were defending her fraud that maybe she needed more money to pay off debts or buy food or whatever. Someone wants to help you solve ONE of your problems. Many others probably have probably said no to you. He wants to help you solve THAT problem. You then try to deceive him to get more money to fix your OTHER problems and that is okay? Lol."
