Manchester United planning to sign Napoli star Elseid Hysaj this summer

Manchester United are reportedly planning to sign Napoli right back Elseid Hysaj this summer.

The Red Devils were unimpressive in the recently concluded football season in England – finishing 2nd on the log with 19 points behind their city rivals, Manchester City.

However, the club’s manager Jose Mourinho has made the defender his top priority signing when the summer transfer window opens.

With Matteo Darmian almost certain to join Juventus, the FA Cup finalists have intensified their plot to sign the defender.

Hysaj joined the Italian Serie A side in 2015 and been able to establish himself as the best right-backs in top European leagues,

Meanwhile, Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri is said to have been at loggerheads with president Aurelio Di Laurentiis over the Albanian’s relatively low release clause.

Sarri claims the £44 million clause on the player is a snip for some of the top clubs in Europe.

Hysaj might likely be the first player to leave this summer after battling with Juventus for the Serie A title.

Dries Mertens and Jorginho some of the other players — who are both on United’s radar — are likely to have a queue of suitors.

Since replacing Louis van Gaal in 2016, Mourinho has almost exclusively played stand-in skipper Antonio Valencia at right-back.

However, with the Ecuadorian turning 33 in August, the United boss is looking for a more long-term option.

Hysaj started his senior career at Empoli in 2015 – scoring one goal in over 100 matches before joining Napoli in the summer of 2015.

Since then, he made 101 appearances for his current side but without a goal. earlier reported that Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is willing to trigger the player's release clause this summer.

The Red Devils manager is planning to replace Antonio Valencia ahead of the 2018-19 league season.
