Ivanka Trump, daughter to the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner, have received a blessing in Jerusalem from a controversial rabbi who once compared black people to monkeys.
The couple received the blessing from Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef on Sunday, May 13, during a visit to Israel ahead of the opening of the new US embassy, Newsweek reports.
Legit.ng notes that the rabbi was criticised earlier this year for calling black people monkeys as he appeared to specifically attack African Americans during a sermon.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, April 30, said he avoided bringing up President Donald Trump’s alleged vulgar remarks about African countries when the two presidents met at the White House because he was not sure his American counterpart truly made comment.
Buhari, the first sub-Saharan Africa president to meet Trump since he was sworn in in January 2017, travelled to the US for bilateral talks on the invitation of the American president.
When asked for his opinion about the alleged vulgar comment during a joint press conference with Trump at the Rose Garden at the White House, President Buhari, said: “I am not sure about the validity or whether that allegation against the president was true or not, so the best thing to do for me is to keep quiet.”
