Buhari commiserates with Tunde Bakare over mother’s death

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, May 14, commiserated with his former running mate, Pastor Tunde Bakare, on the death of his mother, Abigail.

President Buhari’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement said the president commiserated with the general overseer of Latter Rain Assembly in a telephone conversation, Punch reports.

“The President called on the bereaved family to uphold the cherished ideals of community service, kindness and generosity associated with the matriarch of the Bakare family, who died on May 5, 2018, aged 108,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, previously reported that Pastor Bakare stated that President Buhari can choose to stand for re-election in 2019 if he so desires.

The cleric made his comments on Saturday, February 3, during a townhall meeting in London.

He also stated that the president’s health condition had improved.

Bakare further commended former President Goodluck Jonathan for accepting the results of the 2015 presidential election even though it was not in his favour, and urged Nigerians to thank the ex-president for preventing a bloodbath in the nation by accepting the result.
