- The aggrieved members disclosed that the leaders of the party have betrayed their trust
- The aggrieved members said the leaders didn't make the committee set up by the former state governor, Adams Oshiomhole not to have any effect
Hundreds and thousands of aggrieved members of the APC from Owan west local government area took over the building on Thursday, May 10 protested of non-harmonisation of lists submitted by them before the last Saturday's ward congress.
According to a statement entitled “Harmonisation of Owan west local government ward Executive Lists” signed by Chief Shagari Oni and seven other leaders of the wards.
Leadership reports that the aggrieved members said the leaders of the party have betrayed their trust by not adhering to instruction handed to them but preferred to favour a particular group in the party to their own detriment.

The statement read: “Some time ago, we were asked to send the names of four leaders per ward to work with the ward leaders.
“That at the countdown to the congress, we were equally directed to instruct these five leaders to meet and produce a list of executive officers for each ward by amending the existing lists through replacement of persons occasioned by death and effusion.
“That this directive was communicated to the various ward leaders who diligently carried out the assignment and produced a list for each ward that was generally accepted.”
The group maintained that on 4th of May Oni was allegedly invited to Iyamho with other leaders of the six local government areas that make up Edo North and on getting there, they discovered that Rev. Obadan led other party members namely Prof. Ihonvbere, Omonlei Imadu and Angelina Aigbokhai, Sam Obokhare to present another list different from that which were produced by the party.
They said former governor Adams Oshiomhole who is the overall leader of the party, had earlier advised the local government leaders on the need to harmonize the various factional lists and come up with one list per ward that will be acceptable to all, adding that to achieve success in that regard, he set up a committee to do the harmonization.
The members alleged that on the day of the harmonization, they waited in vain at the various ward secretariats for the harmonized lists and Congress officials did not show up and no lists were sent to the leadership of the party in the local government.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the chairman, senate committee on finance, John Eno said the APC nationwide ward congresses did not hold in Cross River added that some individuals within state chapter of the APC were planning to hijack the party structure.
Eno who made this known on Monday, May 7, in Abuja asked the party’s leadership not to believe any contrary report.
According to him, “It will be shameful if any delegates’ list and elected people come out of last Saturday’s exercise in Cross River when result sheets and other materials are in safe custody of the police.
