According to Spanish news outlet, AS, the former Santos forward is said to be unhappy at his present club owing to the level of competition in the French League - and Real have launched an audacious bid to sign him.
The publication also revealed pictures of Neymar and Real Madrid new boy Vinicius Junior in a mansion in Rio de Janeiro on March 22.
Both of them were not supposed to publicise their meeting but they managed to post a selfie on social media, leading to the cover story that they were meeting as friends.

Reports from Spain further explained that the former Barcelona star has met with Real representatives during his recovery process in his home town.
Vinicius Junior said in one of the interviews he granted last month that he will like to play alongside Neymar at Real.
"I know I am still no one and I have done nothing so far," he told The Guardian.
"I want to become one of the best players in football and win a World Cup. I want to reach my goals and make my family proud.
"If God wants, Neymar and I will play together at Real Madrid. I would definitely be in favour of him moving to Madrid because it would be my big dream to play in the same side as Neymar.
"He is my idol in football. If had a chance to play with him, I would feel very happy."
Neymar has returned to training with his club for the first time after suffering the foot injury has kept him out of play for over two months now.
He joined the Parisians from Barcelona last year, and he has already won the French League title, and the French Cup.
