Newspaper review: APC holds fresh Ekiti primary Friday, Tinubu, Akande, Osoba meet aspirants

The newspaper review for Wednesday, May 8, leads with the rescheduling of Ekiti state governorship primaries by the All Progressives Congress, Senate president's warning to oil firms not to induce lawmakers among other stories.

Punch has reported that the All Progressives Congress has cancelled Ekiti governorship primary election and ordered that a fresh one should be held on Friday, May 11.

This was the outcome of a marathon meeting of the National Working Committee of the party, which was held late on Monday and ended on Tuesday.

The national publicity secretary of the APC Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, announced the party’s decision at a press briefing at the party’s national secretariat, in Abuja, on Tuesday.

He told newsmen that the party considered the report submitted to it by the Governor Tanko Al-Makura-led panel sent to conduct the exercise.

Vanguard reports that the presidency, yesterday said that President Muhammadu Buhari who is on a four-day trip to the United Kingdom, where he will see his doctors did not need to transmit a letter to the Senate and the House of Representatives before embarking on such a trip.

This came as Femi Adesina, spokesman of President Buhari, yesterday, said there was no cause to worry over Buhari’s health condition.
