There was mild drama at the Igbosere high court on Monday, May 7 after notorious kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans refused to come down from the prison van, otherwise known as Black Maria.
Vanguard reports that Evans, who is currently facing charges bordering on conspiracy to kidnap and attempted murder, was expected to appear in court today as part of his ongoing trial.
Drama, however, ensued on getting to the court premises as the suspect stayed glued in the van and refused to come down.
It was learnt that he refused to come down from the Black Maria, when the case was called until the court ordered that the prison warders should go and bring him into the court.
He was brought into the court with his back filled with sand and is green Tee Shirt torn on the right shoulder, and walked in bear footed in handcuffs.
According to Channels report, when he was allowed to speak, the suspected kidnapper told Justice Akintoye that he was not being treated well in prison.
He said: ”I have an explanation to make. Since I have been in the maximum prison, they have been maltreating me; no visit, they don’t feed me well. I have an eye problem and I cannot see far.”
Another report confirmed that DCP Abba Kyari said it took the intervention of the judge, Justice Adedayo Akintoye, who ordered that he should bundled into the court.
Kyari said: “There was drama in Igbosere court today as Evans refused to come down from black maria to enter the court, not until the sitting judge ordered that he should be bundled to the court.
“The warder also said he had refused to follow them from prison but he was dragged.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa has hinted that Evans might be prosecuted in the state.
The argument is that most of his alleged criminal activities were carried out in Lagos state where he was also arrested in his Magodo estate mansion.
Obasa gave the hint on Thursday, July, 13, at the 2nd edition of the state House of Assembly/Media and Civil Society organisations parley where issues relating to security dominated discussions.
