Ortom warns Benue youths against taking illicit drug

- Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state over the weekend addressed the youths of the state

- He warned the youths against taking illicit medicine

- The governor, however, advised them to repent from their wrong doings and turn to God

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state over the weekend cautioned youths in the state against taking illicit medicine.

Guardian reports that Governor Ortom gave the warning at the J.S. Tarka Stadium in Gboko, during thanksgiving prayers to mark the one-year anniversary of the Tor Tiv, James Ayatse.

Ortom said the warning was necessary to safeguard the youths’ future in the interest of a better society.

The governor advised them to return to God because he is the one who has the solution to every man’s predicaments.

He stressed that taking medicine would destroy their future, and lauded the initiative of the Tor Tiv in starting a foundation to enhance the wealth of the Tiv Nation.

He also advised politicians against playing politics of bitterness, because it breeds anarchy, chaos and rancour among other terrible vices.

Meanwhile, had reported that Governor Ortom directed appointees seeking elections to resign before May 29.

The governor said the decision is to give the affected appointees enough time to concentrate on their campaign programmes while paving way for others to assume such positions and also contribute to the development of the state.

The governor has also directed the suspension of the proposed privatisation of government enterprises.
