Premier League giants Manchester United are now said to be ready to sign Napoli and Belgian striker Dries Mertens as Jose Mourinho wants him at Old Trafford next season.
The 30-year-old forward has been impressive for the Italian club for the last two years scoring 45 goals in two seasons.
His superb performances have caught the attention of the Red Devils' boss Jose Mourinho who is said to have sent representatives to Italy according to Sun.
Mertens has a £25 million release clause in his contract, and it's reported Mourinho is keen to exploit that number.
The report also added that Dries Mertens would be a replacement for Anthony Martial who is expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Mertens signed for Napoli in 2013 prior to which he had stints in Belgium with Gent and Eendracht Aalst, and in the Netherlands with AGOVV Apeldoorn Utrecht and PSV.
The 30-year-old striker made his Belgium debut in 2011 and has since made over 50 appearances for the national team.
He was also part of the nation's squads at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2016 where he was named Belgian Footballer of the Year.
