After his arrival from Washington DC where he visited President Donald Trump of the United States, President Muhammadu Buhari has headed for Daura, his hometown, to attend the ruling party's ward congress.
In readiness for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress slated for May 5, President Buhari on Friday, May 4, departed Abuja for Daura, Katsina state, The Cable reports.
Legit.ng notes that the APC fixed May 5 for the ward congress while it fixed the local government area (LGA) and state congresses for May 12 and May 19 respectively.
Recall that President Buhari arrived Nigeria on the night of Thursday, May 3 after visiting President Donald Trump of the United States in Washington DC.
It was reported that the presidential aircraft conveying the president and some members of his entourage landed at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at about 10.35pm.
Among those who received the president at the airport were the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Musa Bello, chief of staff to the president, Malam Abba Kyari and some heads of security agencies.
President Buhari was accompanied on the US trip by the governors of Ogun and Plateau; ministers of foreign affairs, justice, industry, trade and investment.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari had been assured by the United States president, Donald Trump, that his country would soon release fighter jets worth $496 million to Nigeria to aid the fight against Boko Haram insurgency.
The US president gave the assurance on Monday, April 30, at a conference with President Buhari after their meeting in the White House.
President Trump said that the aircraft would improve the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.
