- Messi reportedly wants Neymar back in Barcelona next summer
- The Brazilian was sold for a world record £198m fee last season
- Neymar will return training soon ahead of the World Cup in Russia
Spanish champions Barcelona are reportedly plotting a shock swap deal to re-sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain next summer, Don Balon reports.
The 26-year-old attacker left the Nou Camp last summer to join PSG in a world record deal worth £198m last summer.
But the Brazilian is said to be unhappy despite enjoying a stunning debut season in Ligue 1 scoring 28 goals before sustaining a foot injury.
And a number of heavyweight clubs including Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United have be linked to Neymar.
The Spanish media outlet claimed the La Liga giants are willing to sacrifice Ousmane Dembele to get their former star back.
However Barca are aware that they can not afford PSG's asking price so they would look to use the winger as a makeweight if any deal is discussed.
Dembele was signed from Dortmund last season and has struggled with injuries in most part of the season.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Nou Camp and could make a return to his homeland should Barca and PSG agree.
Don Balon also claimed Lionel Messi is desperate for a reunion with Neymar and has told Barca to sell Dembele to facilitate the move.
Reports also said Messi has confided with close friends he misses his former Brazilian colleague and blames Barca’s failure to win a treble on the decision to let Neymar leave.
According to the rumours Neymar would prefer a switch to Barcelona despite being linked to all the European heavyweight clubs.
The former Santos star player injured his foot in a Ligue 1 match against Marseille and also missed the crucial second leg round of 16 tie against Real Madrid.
Doctors recently revealed Neymar will get back to training soon and would be fit in time to make it through to the World Cup in the summer.
