A Twitter user identified as Al-Hafiz Nafiu Usman recently congratulated his friend on emerging as second runner up at the just concluded Holy Qur'an recitation competition in Iran. The proud friend shared photos from his friend receiving his medal of honour among many other contestants.
The Holy Qur'an recitation competition which was held in Iran featured many Qur'an scholars from all over the world. However, Goni Tijjani Goni Muhammad Dan Baba from Yobe state emerged as second runner-up, ultimately making him the third best Qur'an reciter in the world.
The laudable thing is the fact that Tijjani had to save several other contestants from different parts of the world but went straight to make the Muslim brothers and sisters in Nigerian proud.
Al-Hafiz who shared a post , congratulating his friend on social media also displayed photos from the award ceremony. His post reads: "Congratulations to My Friend Goni Tijjani Goni Muhammad Dan Baba from Yobe State, Became 3rd Position in Memorization of the Holy Qur'an at International Qur'anic Recitation Competition held In #IRAN... Congratulations Nigeria."
Thee competition required the contestants to recite several chapters of the holy book from memory.
The Holy Qu'ran contain 114 chapters with over 6,000 verses. According to research, it will take and average speed reader 15 hours to read the entire holy book.
