Hours after visiting Senator Dino Melaye in hospital on Wednesday, April 25, his colleague, Shehu Sani, said he could not immediately say if the former was ‘stable or not’.
Sani (APC-Kaduna) had been one of the senators who stormed the National Hospital to ascertain the health condition of the embattled Kogi senator. He had been granted entrance into the Intensive Care Unit where Melaye is admitted.
Legit.ng notes that in a Facebook update, Sani also disclosed that Melaye’s neck was bandaged and that he could barely speak.
He stated: "I was among the few senators allowed into the Intensive Care Unit of the National Hospital to see distinguish Senator Dino. He was not on handcuffs but on drips. He was barely able to speak and his neck was bandaged.
“I’m not a medical doctor or a nurse to conclude whether that means ‘stable or not’. That is the truth.”
Melaye reportedly jumped out of a moving police vehicle and wounded himself, while being conveyed to Lokoja on Tuesday afternoon, April 24. He was rushed to hospital afterwards.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Senator Dino Melaye claimed that he had been denied access to food and family members for more than 24 hours.
In a tweet on Wednesday, April 24, Melaye claimed he had not been allowed access to his lawyers as well. In an earlier tweet, he claimed the police had arrested seven persons related to him and had not released them yet.
