Media personality and author of the awarding winning book, On Becoming, Toke Makinwa has shared some great tips on how she coped with a major surgery on her YouTube channel.
Toke in her weekly episodes of 'Toke moments' on her YouTube channel disclosed that she has battled fibroid for 7 years.
She narrated how it was a great challenge for her, as she felt immense pain round her joints and she couldn't sit up.
She further added that the pain led her to visiting churches, fasting and praying, seeking spiritual healing from God but that didn't make the pain go away.
She shared tips on how she got back to her feet after her surgery, as she says the tips really helped her a lot.
She said: ''If you are like me that hates surgeries, don't be scared, it's not all that terribly, I did it, I'm alive. So I will be talking about post surgeries, I think healing starts from the mind, no one ever wants to experience surgery, it's a very depressing experience no matter how optimistic you are, getting better makes you really grateful for life, those things you normally take for granted. The fact you sleep easily on the bed, roll over and pick up things, then suddenly you realize you need help for that. Mine was bad I don't know for some other person.
The first tip is acknowledging that your body has gone through something.
Music, music is life and healing, I engaged in watching all the TV series just to keep my mind busy.
