Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly planning to sign Brazil youngster Lucas Halter at the end of the season according to The Sun.
The Atletico Paranaense defender turns 18 in May and he is also said to be wanted by Atletico Madrid and Roma this summer.
However, the Citizens are leading the race to sign the youngster who was superb for Brazil during their Under-17 World Cup semi-final clash.
His side were defeated 3-1 by England at the last four stage of the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup in India with Rhian Brewster netting all three goals for the host nation.
According to the Mirror, the defender might be on his way to City’s academy where he would be prepared for senior team football at the Etihad Stadium.
He will also play alongside the likes of Phil Foden, who has already played a couple of games for Pep Guardiola’s men.
City have been barred from signing any player below the age of 18 from fellow Premier League clubs until June 30, with a second year of a ban suspended for two years.
Meanwhile, the ban won’t stop them from signing Halter, who would further strengthen City's Brazilian connection.
Boss Guardiola has brought in keeper Ederson, forward Gabriel Jesus and utility man Danilo in the past 16 months.
Douglas Luiz arrived from Vasco de Gama in a £14million deal last summer but has spent the season on loan with feeder club Girona in Spain.
Samba star Fernandinho was already on City's books and could stay with them until 2020 after signing a two-year contract in January.
