Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah was once again impressive for his side in their 5-2 victory over AS Roma in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal clash at Anfield.

The Egyptian scored twice and assisted two other goals to give the Reds a three-goal cushion heading into the second leg in Italy next week.

However, the former Chelsea forward was caught hugging his former teammates in the tunnel before putting them to the sword during the game. He embraced Radja Nainggolan and who appears to be one of Roma's directors.

Meanwhile, his brace in the game increases his goal tally in Europe to 13 this season while his goals in all competitions stand at 43 goals.

The former Basel striker has also scored 31 goals in the English Premier League this season, and after the game, Italian media said that Roma sold Salah for so cheap after his display.

Also, the club’s sporting director Monchi admitted admits he had to flog the Egyptian for £34.4million, while the fee could eventually rise to £44.4m, but he was constrained by Financial Fair Play.

He added that they had to sell the Egyptian due to their financial constraints, but claimed that their decision has helped them reach the last four stage.

The former Sevilla director said: "Why did we sell Salah? It's true, I gave up Salah, but forced by Uefa constraints.

"Last year we were forced to sell by June 30th and if we had not done it that day we would not be in the Champions League semi-finals.

"Our accounts were under strict control from Uefa and when I arrived there was an offer of [£26m], then with the bonuses it went up to [£44m]."

Having joined the Reds for one season, the striker has been superb for the Anfield team scoring 43 goals in all season and he is chasing Ian Rush's 47 goal record in a league season, although he will do it in significantly less games if he beats the mark the Welsh striker set in 1983-84.

Salah got his professional career off at El Mokawloon and scored 11 goals in 38 appearances for the team after two season.

He spent two seasons at FC Basel before joining Chelsea in 2014 where he scored just twice in 13 appearances and at the end of his first season at the Bridge, he didn’t fit into Jose Mourinho’s team.

And he was sent on loan to Fiorentina for the first half of the 2015-16 season, but completed the same term at AS Roma, where he eventually signed a permanent deal.

Just one season into his new deal at the Stadio Olimpico, he signed a long term deal with Liverpool and has taken the English football world by storm by scoring 31 goals in 33 matches.

He is the reigning African footballer of the year and has become the second African, after Riyad Mahrez to win the PFA player of the year award.

His superb performance helped Egypt claim their first World Cup ticket since 1990, and has scored 33 goals in 57 games for his national team.
