Buhari's visit: Bauchi state government declares public holiday

- President Muhammadu Buhari is embarking on a two day visit to Bauchi state

- The president is expected to arrive the state on Thursday, April 26

- The Bauchi state government has declared a public holiday ahead of the the president's arrival

Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi state has declared Thursday April 26, as a public holiday ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari's two day visit to the state.

According to a statement sent to Legit.ng by the special adviser, media and strategy to the governor, Ali Ali, the holiday was declared to enable all and sundry give the president a rousing reception tomorrow.

While in Bauchi, the president is expected to commission some projects especially roads and flag off the distribution of 500 tractors to farmers in the state.

Earlier in a broadcast to the state, the governor had enjoined the people of the state to come out enmasse to receive the president when he arrives the state tomorrow.

The visit is President Buhari's first main activity after he returned from London on Saturday, April 21, where met with British Prime Minister, Theresa May, and participated at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings (CHOGM), held from Wednesday, April 18 to Friday, April 20.

Buhari, however, suffered a public relations disaster while speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in London. While answering a question on what policies his government has put in place to engage young people in the turbulent northeast region, Buhari literally suggested Nigerian youths were a lazy bunch waiting for government's handouts.
