Just like it happens in many other Nigerian institutions, students who wish to apply for UNIPORT should score at least 180 points at JAMB examinations. Besides, those Nigerians who are looking into the Humanities, Social science and management science courses have to bypass NECO or WAEC exams and are expected to earn 5 credits in Biology, English languages (literature), Economics, Mathematics and Government (or Accounting).

Students who are looking to study Engineering department or sciences can be eligible to apply if they successfully passed WAEC / NECO and got 5 credits in Technical drawing, English language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. In addition, their JAMB score has to be 180+ or better way more than this.
