Antonio Conte fires shots at Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho

- Conte believes his record after 100 games in charge at Chelsea is better than that of Mourinho when the Portuguese was manager of the Blues

- Antonio Conte has 65 victories from his first 100 games with Chelsea, only Mourinho has a better record of 72 victories in Chelsea's history

- But according to the Italian, he inherited a squad that finished 10th before winning the league last year, whereas Mourinho inherited a squad that were runners up in 2003 before winning it the next season

Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has once again belittled Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho as he compared their respective results after 100 games at helm at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian tactician claimed that Jose Mourinho was afforded a simple start to life when he was in charge of the Premier League campaigners.

Conte notched his 100th game with a valuable 2-1 win over Burnley last Thursday taking his tally to 65 victories, compared to Mourinho's 72 during his first spell at the club between 2004 and 2007.

Antonio Conte stated that his success with Chelsea emerged from more difficult circumstances as he took a team who finished 10th in 2016 to the summit of the Premier League during his first season, whilst Mourinho inherited a side in second place before he too lifted the trophy in his debut season.

"I could do better. This is my mentality. We could have done better.

"Mourinho won 72 in the first 100 games? We are talking about a great manager. Don’t forget the first 100 games with Mourinho were many years ago.

"Now, it is not simple to have this run of results, in this present Chelsea. I’m pleased for the players, for the club, but we could do better.

"For Mourinho, it was a different era in the club’s history. I won a title with Juventus after they finished seventh twice before I arrived. It is a great, great achievement. Not a simple achievement.

"Last season, we won a title after a 10th place. It’s a great, great achievement. Not a simple achievement. I don’t like the stats, I only found out after the game that it was my 100th game with Chelsea." The Italian told Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Antonio Conte could face the exit doors at the end of the ongoing season which remain five games.

The Blues have been dethroned as Premier League champions by Manchester City and they also have limited hope of finishing among the top four at the end of the season.

Chelsea are currently occupying fifth position on the EPL standings with 63 points after 34 games, and they are five points behind fourth placed Tottenham.

But Antonio Conte and his men have a chance of winning a title this season which is in the FA Cup where they will face Southampton in the semi final.
