- Morata apologizes for kicking the water-bottle after being subbed
- The 25-year-old missed a one-on-one opportunity against Burnley
- Chelsea will file out against Southampton in the FA Cup semi finals
Chelsea striker has apologized for slamming a water bottle into the ground after being taken off against Burnley in a Premier League match at Turf Moor.
The 25-year-old missed a golden opportunity for the Blues after he was set loose by N'Golo Kante as he narrowly missed from five yards.
The former Real Madrid and Juventus striker looked confident as he brushed off a challenge from Kevin Long before racing towards the keeper Nick Pope.
However he lost his composure and sent his close-range effort wide from the woodwork but it seemed Pope got a slight touch to it.
The Clarets had leveled the scores at 1-1 courtesy of an Ashley Barnes' flick and the Spain international got a spanking from the fans as they took to Twitter to vent their anger for the miss.
The £65m ace reacted furiously after being replaced by Eden Hazard in the 71st minute.
Morata posted a picture on Instagram with the caption: "Three important points for us.
"The best way to get ready for Sunday’s game was winning today.
I want to apologize for my reaction when I was sent to the bench, when I fail I get really angry with myself!!"
Fortunately for Morata, Victor Moses struck in the 69th minute to secure a 2-1 win as he watched from the bench.
Antonio Conte's men still stand an outside chance to finish in the Premier League if Tottenham and Liverpool drop points with four games left.
Chelsea will play Southampton at the weekend in the FA Cup semi final at Wembley as they continue their search for a silverware this term.
