Sultan threatens Miyetti Allah with 2 months ultimatum to fish out killer herdsmen

- The Miyetti Allah group has been given a two-month ultimatum to fish out killer herdsmen in the country

- The order was given to the herders' group by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar

- The Sultan regretted that most of the killing carried out by the suspects are often attributed to ‘Fulani herdsmen’

Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and president-general of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs NSCIA), has lamented the fact that the killings and other criminal activities going on in various parts of the country have been attributed to ‘Fulani herdsmen.’

Speaking during the formal swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected executives of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) on Tuesday, April 16, in Sokoto, the Sultan, gave the association two months ultimatum to identify the herdsmen responsible for the rampant killings across the country, Sahara Reporters reports.

Moreover, the Sultan charged the leadership of MACBAN to find out those behind killings of suspected herdsmen, which, according to him, are not properly reported by the media.

The Sultan remarked: “To you the newly elected leadership of MACBAN, I want to remind you that your task is a very challenging one. Don’t forget that Fulanis are also being killed in Nigeria and no media attention is given to it.

“However, we are giving you two months to go round the entire country and find out why Fulanis are accused of being behind the killings. Go and find out who are those Fulanis doing the killings. Also, find out if it is other people that are doing the killings and are accusing the Fulanis. Please, we want to get the truth from you within two months.

“We are not ashamed to be called Fulanis because Fulanis are not troublemakers. Despite the fact that any wrongdoing in Nigeria now is erroneously said to be caused by Fulanis.

“We, however, want people to know that though there might be bad ones amongst the Fulanis, just like there are in every race that is not enough justification to generalize that all Fulanis are bad.”

Meanwhile, reported that Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi on Tuesday, April 17, set up a judicial commission of inquiry to look into the suspected herdsmen attacks in the Ogane-Nigwu, Ojuwo-Ajimadi and Agbenema-Ife areas of the state. gathered that the committee, which comprise fourteen men, was to determine the immediate and remote causes of the crisis in the affected communities, identify individuals or group of persons responsible for the mayhem.
