Barcelona want Real Madrid target Christian Eriksen as Andres Iniesta's replacement

- With Andres Iniesta set to quit Barcelona this summer, the Blaugrana are ready to battle Real Madrid for the signature of Tottenham's midfielder Christian Eriksen this summer

Barcelona are reportedly planning to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s attacker Christian Eriksen as a replacement for Andres Iniesta this summer’

The 33-year-old midfielder is set to join a Chinese Super League side at the end of this season and the deal looks almost sealed with the Spaniard assured of over two million bottles of wine when he gets to China.

Erikson joined Spurs in the summer of 2013 for a fee around £12.15 million and he has become a mainstay in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Meanwhile, Spanish news outlet, claim Real Madrid are also in the race to sign the Danish midfielder as Manchester United are poised to sign Germany international Toni Kroos this summer.

Red Devils manager, Jose Mourinho, is said to have established contact with the Galacticos and the player’s representative for a possible summer transfer move for the player.

Erikson has scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions for Tottenham this term, although, he was not able to inspire them to a win over Juventus in the round of 16 few weeks back.

However, he was in action for the Lilywhites in their 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion in their English topflight encounter on Tuesday, April 17.

The former Ajax man is also expected to star in Tottenham’s FA Cup semi final clash against Manchester United at Wembley on Saturday, April 21.

Anders Skjoldemose, a youth coach at Danish top-division side OB, was always convinced of Eriksen’s talents.

He said: “Christian was always a good team player with us.

“He is very humble and always has a smile on his face. The way you know Christian today, it is the same Christian when he was playing for OB.

“When he is in Denmark he still comes back to see us and is still the same as he always was.”

Erikson has netted 41 goals in 166 matches for Spurs since he joined them in 2013, while his three-year reign at Ajax from 2010 to 2013 recorded 25 goals in 113 appearances for the Dutch side.

While at Ajax, the Denmark international won four straight Eredivisie titles, and also won the KNVB Cup in the 2009-10 season.
