Champions League head to head: Liverpool vs AS Roma statistics

Premier League campaigners Liverpool return to the UEFA Champions League semifinal stage for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

The Reds defeated fellow English topflight side Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate to progress to the last four stage of the UEFA organized competition.

And they will now face Italian Serie A side, AS Roma at the next stage of the championship as their chase for the ultimate price in European club football continue.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have scored 33 goals so far and conceded 10 in their last 10 matches in the ongoing championship so far.

Meanwhile, they haven’t lost any of their games in this campaign, having won six and drawn four from the group stage to the last eight stage of the tourney.

Liverpool’s greatest victory recorded in the tournament is their 11-0 win over Strømsgodset in 1974, and their heaviest defeat in the tournament was their 5-1 loss to Ajax in 1966.

Roma on the other hand put up an incredible performance in the second leg of their quarterfinal clash against Barcelona in Italy.

Eusebio Di Francesco’s men have been superb in Europe this campaign as they have kept clean sheets in all their previous games at home.

They ousted FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the second round before upsetting Barcelona with their 3-0 victory in the second leg, having lost 4-1 in the reverse fixture.

Both sides have met five times in the past with the Reds having a slight edge over their opponent with two wins and two draws.

Meanwhile, the two teams finished tops of their groups at the preliminary stage late last year.

Also, Egyptian forward, Mohamed Salah will be returning to his former team for the first time since he joined the Anfield Stadium outfit last summer.

The former Chelsea man has scored 39 goals in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp's side - a record that has attracted top European clubs justling for his signature at the end of this season.
