Real Madrid superstar Marcelo has thrown jibes at fellow Spanish League outfit Barcelona after going through to the Champions League semifinal stage on Wednesday night.

Los Blancos were three goals up from the first leg of their encounter in Turin a week ago, but needed a last minute penalty to oust the Old Lady in the second leg of the game.

Juventus took Madrid by surprise with Mario Mandzukic scoring a brace, while Blaise Matuidi grabbed the third for the Italian side on the night.

However, a late challenge on Lucas Vasquez by Benatia ensured Cristiano Ronaldo got the Galacticos the only goal that pushed them through to the semifinal stage of the championship.

Meanwhile, Barcelona on the other hand were unable to score at least a goal to pull through to the last four stage of the championship, having thrown away a 4-1 lead from the first leg to crash out after a 3-0 defeat in the second leg.

Marcelo said there was no way they were going to allow what happened to Barca repeat itself to them on the night.

"We should face and we did everything possible to go through," he said after the match.

"What happened to Barcelona wasn't going to happen to us because we're Real Madrid."

Reacting to the penalty call by referee Michael Oliver awarded on a foul on Lucas Vazquez, Marcelo believes the referee made the right decision at the end of the game.

"The penalty was very clear," he said.

Having concluded the quarterfinal stage, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Roma are now in the Champion League semifinal stage, and the draws for the next phase will be done on Friday.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has successfully set another UCL record, be holding the top three highest goal record in the competition.

He is the leading the top goals scorer this season with 15 goals from 10 games this season – while he is also holds the first and second records with 17 and 16 goals from previous editions respectively.
