Ganduje welcomes Buhari’s second term bid

- Kano state government said it welcomes with satisfaction, the decision by President Muhammadu Buhari to re-contest election in 2019

Kano state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Monday, April 9, welcomed with satisfaction the decision by President Muhammadu Buhari to re-contest election come 2019, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

According to a statement signed by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba, assured that the second term tenure of President Buhari would ensure consolidation of the achievements recorded by the present administration in the area of economic growth, security, fight against corruption and transparency in government among others.

Garba made this known while Nigeria had gotten out of recession, the Buhari-led government’s zero tolerance for corruption, coupled with its holistic approach to fighting insurgency had boosted the country’s image in the international community.

He added that the present administration high level of transparency in government had also attracted many foreign investors to the country for business purposes.

The commissioner said Kano being the strongest support base of the president Buhari, its people and administration of Governor Abdullahi.

Umar Ganduje would ensure the success of Buhari’s second term bid at the polls to consolidate the gains so far made.

It would be recalled that Governor Ganduje had last week, threatened to sue president Buhari if he refuse to declare his intention to seek for re-election come 2019.

Meanwhile, had reported that President Buhari announced he would seek reelection in the 2019 presidential election.

The development was made public by the president's personal assistant on new media, Bashir Ahmed.

Ahmad took to his Twitter handle, @BashirAhmaad, to announce the development on Monday, April 9. He further disclosed that the president made the announcement during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
