Nigeria police commences search for gunmen who allegedly killed DPO in Rivers state

- The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says it would ensure that the killers of a DPO in Rivers state are arrested and prosecuted

- The commissioner of police in Rivers, Zaki Ahmed, visited the family of the deceased and made the vow

- The police also officially announced the demise of the DPO, whose name is given as Kingsley Chukwuegu

A manhunt has been launched for the killers of Kingsley Chukwuegu, the head of Rumuolumeni station of the law enforcement agency in Rivers state, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), through its commissioner in Rivers, Zaki Ahmed, said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday, April 9, by Nnamdi Omoni, the police public relations officer in the state, said the commissioner had promised to arrest the killers.

According to the statement, Omoni also said the commissioner had already led a delegation of senior police officers to commiserate with the wife of the deceased and other family members.

“With a deep sense of loss, the police command in Rivers announces the sudden death of SP Kingsley Chukwuegu who died in the early hours of Monday (April 9).

“Until his death, he was the DPO, Rumuolumeni police station. The commissioner of police has this morning led a delegation of senior police officers to commiserate with his wife and other members of his family.

“The commissioner has launched a serious man-hunt for the perpetrators of the dastardly act and promised to fish them out soonest," the statement said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Edgal Imohimi, the Lagos state commissioner of police, stated that the activities of the Badoo cult group has been degraded.

He made the comment at the inaugural edition of the Lagos state Security Summit, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, on Monday, April 9.
