President Buhari departs Nigeria for UK

President Muhammadu Buhari has departed Abuja for an official visit to the United Kingdom where he is expected to hold discussions with Prime Minister Theresa May.

The personal assistant to the president on new media, Bashir Ahmad, in a tweet on Monday, April 9, said the discussion between Buhari and Theresa May will focus on Nigeria - British relations. had earlier reported that the presidency announced that President Buhari will leave on Monday, April 9, on an official visit to Britain.

The announcement was made in a statement by presidential spokesman Garba Shehu who stated that the Nigerian leader would head to the United Kingdom on an official visit ahead of the Commonwealth Head of Governments meeting (CHOGOM).

Meanwhile, President Buhari has announced that he would seek reelection in the 2019 presidential election.

The development was made public by the president's personal assistant on new media, Bashir Ahmed.
