- Javier Hernandez scored a 76th minute equaliser to earn West Ham United a 1-1 draw at Chelsea on Sunday, April 8
- Spanish player Cesar Azpilicueta opened scoring for the Blues earlier in the game but couldn't hold on to the lead till the end of the game
- The Blues are th on the EPL log with 57 points - four more than Arsenal who are also targeting the Europa League spot
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has blamed the Blues manager Antonio Conte for his side’s 1-1 draw against West Ham United at the Stamford Bridge.
Cesar Azpilicueta put the hosts ahead in the 36th minute through an Alvaro Morata’s assist, but were unable to hold on to the lead as they conceded a 76th equalizer from substitute Javier Hernandez.
The result ensured the Blues remain winless in their last two English topflight – following their 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.
However, the German player believes his coach’s tactics has not been favourable to them, adding that it always has a way of making them concede when they shouldn’t.
“I think we begged. We begged for the goal,” Rudiger told Sky Sports (via Football Italia).
“I think in the second half we (could) finish the game (off). But like the last few months, we didn't and we (conceded).
“For me, it's not easy to explain. I don't understand why after 1-0 we always drop and let the opponent get more ball possession.
“Like the last weeks again, we (gave) them a gift. I think that was the first chance they (had).”
With last Sunday’s result, Chelsea are 10 points adrift of fourth place Spurs on the Premier League table with 57 points from 32 league games – six games before the season is over.
Meanwhile, their chances of finishing among the top four teams on the log is gradually fading away, and they must also be wary of Arsenal, who are just three points behind the defending champions for the Europa League spot.
Chelsea are not stabilized at the moment with Conte reportedly heading for the exit door, while some of their key players are also expected to join other teams this summer.
They have a chance to finish this season with a title if they win this year’s FA Cup – as they face Southampton in the semifinal clash later this month.
