Antonio Conte blames Chelsea players for being wasteful against West Ham

- Premier League champions Chelsea shared spoils with West Ham United on Sunday, April 8 at the Stamford Bridge

- Cesar Azpilicueta scored for the Blues, but Javier Hernandez's second half goal ensured both teams claim a point each in the game

- Meanwhile, Chelsea's chances of playing in the Champions League next season is gradually becoming unrealistic as they are 10 points behind Spurs, who are 4th on the log

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is disappointed with his side’s disappointing display against West Ham United in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Stamford Bridge.

Cesar Azpilicueta gave the Blues the lead in the 36thh minute but his first half goal wasn’t enough to save the day as former Manchester United forward, Javier Hernandez rescued a point for the Hammers in the 76th minute.

The EPL champions are now 10 points clear of the last Champions League spot following their last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, and yesterday’s draw against West Ham.

Chelsea had six shots on target but only one found the back of the net, while the opposing team had just two – with one going through to salvage a point for them at the end the clash.

The hosts also controlled possession all through the game, but were unlucky not to have scored more than one goal in that meeting.

However, Antonio Conte believes his players were not clinical enough in front of goal, and added that it is getting bored every unproductive match days.

Sunday’s result against the Hammers may have condemned the Blues to play Europa League football next season, with beleaguered boss Conte tired of discussing the failings of an underperforming side.

He said: “This game describes our whole season.

“I’m very frustrated and I hope my players go home and stay frustrated because, in this way, we have the right mentality.

“Otherwise, if we accept this result and say we were unlucky today then we are not building anything positive for the future.

“I’m repeating this many times and I’m getting bored. You are listening always to the same - not clinical.”

Conte added on Chelsea’s top-four bid: “We must be realistic. If we’re not able to win this type of game, we are talking about what?

“You must win this game if you want to reach a target. In this case, if we wanted to reach a place in the Champions League.

“Other teams are clinical. They create chances, they are ready to suffer and win the game.”

Chelsea will have to be wary of losing their fifth position to red-hot Arsenal, who have won their last six games in all competitions

The Gunners have 54 points on the log – just three points behind Chelsea and they will be gunning for the Europa League spot before the season wraps up.

However, the Blues have a chance to win a title this season as they battle Southampton in the semifinal of this year’s FA Cup competition.

Though, Antonio Conte may be having a bad time in his second season at the Stamford Bridge, he led the team to the English topflight title in his first year and also qualified them to play in the UCL this season, where they crashed out in the knockout stage after losing 4-1 to Barcelona on aggregate.
