A 35-year-old man simply identified as Sikiru, has drowned in the swimming pool of a hotel in the Ishashi area of Lagos state.
Sikiru was said to have visited Regional Hotel and Suites with his girlfriend on Monday, April 2, when the incident happened. It was reported that the girlfriend fled the facility.
The hotel manager reported the case to the police who removed the corpse and deposited it in a mortuary, Punch reports.
Legit.ng notes that according to the Lagos state police public relations officer, SP Chike, a preliminary investigation by detectives who visited the scene showed that there was no injury on the corpse.
He said: “The hotel manager reported that one of his customers, identified simply as Sikiru, whose address is still unknown, was found dead inside the hotel’s swimming pool upon diving into the water. Detectives went to the scene of crime and recovered the remains of the said man.
“No trace of injuries was found and no identification or phone recovered from him. The girlfriend that came with him disappeared immediately with all links of identification of the deceased. The corpse has been deposited in the Badagry General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Investigation is ongoing."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a sixteen-year-old boy identified as Victor Akintunde drowned in a swimming pool of the Fedeco Hotel during a birthday celebration of a close friend simply known as Dare.
It was reported that the deceased and Dare lived together at the Ijegun area of Lagos state.
They were said to have gone to the hotel on Monday, January 2, 2017 with other friends and family members. The celebration was in top gear when the two friends allegedly dived into the hotel’s swimming pool.
