Kano state Government led by the executive governor Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje on Saturday April 7 donated N3 million to the family of former Kano Pillars player, late Chinedu Udoji, who died on Sunday, February 18, in an auto crash in Kano metropolis.
The governor announced the donation when family members of the late player alongside delegates of Kano Pillars visited him at the Government House, Kano.
Speaking about the late player Ganduje said: “Udoji is a great personality and a role model who is very committed to the success of Kano Pillars both on and off the pitch.
“The state government decision to ease and help his young family with a token as we cannot bring him back to life or pay his family replacement,”
The delegation of Kano Pillars was led by the chairman of Kano state Sport Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, who called on the players to win the current Nigerian premier league season on behalf of the late defender.
Legit.ng previously reported that the League management company (LMC) have expressed their condolence to the family of late Chinedu Udoji and also Kano Pillars for the sad demise of their star defender.
The elite League management body directed that a minute silence be observed in honour of the former Enyimba captain during match day 10 fixtures, asking players to wear black armbands during the match to mourn the late player.
