We have agreed we won’t leave any stone unturned - Saraki reacts to robbery incident in Kwara

- Bukola Saraki describes the robbery attack on five banks and killing of some people in Offa as heinous

- Saraki says he has discussed with Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara state over the incident

- He declares that the perpetrators of the act would be brought to book

The president of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, has declared that he would support Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara state to ensure that all those who took part in the robbery attacks on banks in Offa on Thursday, April 5, are brought to justice.

Saraki said, in a statement obtained by Legit.ng, that he spoke with the governor to express his condolence over the killing of some residents and police personnel by the robbers, numbering about 15, who attacked five banks.

“Yesterday’s savage attack on unsuspecting citizens and establishments in Offa LGA, that led to significant loss of lives and injury is a despicable act committed by cruel individuals.

“Make no mistake, there will never be any valid grounds or rationale behind such violence that has left many families without their loved ones - and one more community in grief and shock.

“Last night, I spoke to Governor Ahmed to express my condolence on the lives that were lost in the attack, and we both agree that no stone will be left unturned until the perpetrators of this heinous act are caught and brought to justice.

“Moving forward, it is also important that we all work together to ensure that this does not reoccur. We all must co-operate at various levels to increase the security of our communities.

“I pray that the souls of those that we lost yesterday are granted places amongst the righteous ones. My prayers and support will continue to be extended to all the affected families, and we will remain relentless until everyone who planned or carried out this attack faces the full wrath of the law,” he said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that there was confusion in Offa, a town housing a federal polytechnic in Kwara state, on Thursday, April 5, as heavily armed robbers reportedly raided some banks and shot sporadically leading to chaos among residents and customers.

The report said some of those who were killed in the incident included policemen, complainants, bank customers and market people.

The robbers also reportedly carted away huge amounts of money. According to the report, the bandits, entered the town around 4:45 pm and operated till about 5:40 pm after blocking roads from both Ilorin and Osogbo ends. They were said to have escape through Igosun area of the town.
