- Iwobi believes the Gunners will give Manchester City a run for their money when they play twice in four days

Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi has clearly stated that they can win the Europa League and secure a Champions League qualification spot in the Premier League's top four this season.

The Gunners will have a three-goal advantage going into the second leg against Ostersund at the Emirates in two weeks time in the Europa League round of 16 matches.

When asked about his run in the side, Iwobi replied: "I'm still learning, I'm still young.

"I'm still learning from the lads like Mesut Ozil and (Henrikh) Mkhitaryan. Every time I play, I am grateful."

The Nigerian international has started seven of eight games since he was pictured at a party the day before Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup by Nottingham Forest.

Arsene Wenger said Iwobi would be fined for the incident last month but has backed the forward by continually including him in his selection.

Iwobi was dropped to the bench in the north London derby defeat to Tottenham last weekend but played all 90 minutes as a strong Arsenal side saw off Ostersund in Sweden.

Arsenal will face league leaders and Carrabo Cup finalists opponent, Manchester City in March 1, 2018 and play the Cup finals four days later but Iwobi believes the Gunners are up to the task to match City's commanding form in both matches.

"That's what we are trying to do, get top four and also win this competition. That's the aim."

"There is still a job to do and we have to do it at home. There is still half the tie to play.

"First we have to focus on Thursday, take each game step by step. We have to prepare one more game before that (final)."

Iwobi was captain of the Arsenal's U-20's before graduating into the mainstream and scored the goal that qualified Nigeria to the Russia 2018 World Cup against Zambia in Uyo.
