Army trains 2,723 soldiers on weapons, tactics

- Nigeria army said it has trained 2,723 soldiers on weapons and tactics

- Lieutenant general Tukur Buratai said the training was one of the several measures being taken to adequately prepare troops of the army

- Buratai said it will also enable them to perform their duties in the defence of the nation

Nigerian Army Training Centre, (NATRAC) Kontagora on Thursday, February 15, graduated 2, 723 soldiers of 76 Regular Intake on rigorous professional soldier training with emphasis on tactics, navigation, weapon handling, physical fitness and development of team spirit.

Daily Trust reports that the breakdown shows that 2, 448 males and 275 females participated in the programme, and four women dismissed for “untoward” behaviours, while one Pte Ramson Apenal died in the cause of the training.

The chief of army staff lieutenant general Tukur Buratai represented by the commandant corps of artillery, major general Muhammad Garba said the training was one of the several measures being taken to adequately prepare troops of the Nigerian army to be able to perform their duties in the defence of the nation.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that army posted in 147 officers into Operation LAFIYA DOLE, some divisions, formations and training schools in what it says is in a bid to restrategise.

Sani Kukasheka Usman, Brigadier-General and director Army Public Relations, made the announcement minutes ago.

The statement stated that posting was released by the office of the Military Secretary (Army), last week.
