Nigerian Army places N3m bounty on Abubakar Shekau

The Nigerian army has said it will give out the sum of N3 million reward to anyone with information that leads to the arrest of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.

Army spokesman, Brigadier General Sani Usman, in a statement on Thursday, February 15, urged anyone with information about the whereabouts the factional Boko Haram group leader to contact either the military command and control centre, Operation Lafiya Dole, any military location, security agencies or call the Nigerian Army Information and call centre 193.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian army is unrelenting in its fight against Boko Haram as its latest operation resulted in victory against the terrorists.

In a statement by Major Nureni Alimi who is the assistant director army public relations, he said the terrorists left an IED-laden vehicle in wait but the troop was able to detonate it.

He said another set of fleeing terrorists were dealt heavy blow in Goniri.

In another report, the National Economic Council (NEC), on Thursday, February 15, reportedly approved the use of military force to flush out bandits whose alleged activities have been linked to the clashes between herdsmen and farmers across the country.

Daily Trust reports that the governor of Bauchi state, Mohammed Abubakar, briefed State House correspondents after the NEC meeting which was chaired by the nation’s vice president, Yemi Osinbajo.

The governor said the military was expected to comb forests and other places suspected to be the criminals' hideouts.
