- Arsene Wenger wants to bring Ousmane Dembele to Arsenal this summer
- The Frenchman is hoping to take advantage of the player's surplus to requirement at the Spanish side to lure him away from the club
- The former Borussia Dortmund man has only featured for the Camp Nou side five times this season
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has penciled down Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele as one of his major targets in the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old winger joined the Catalans from Borussia Dortmund last summer in a deal worth about £136 million in a bid to replace Neymar – who joined Paris Saint Germain in the world’s current record fee.
But his reign at the Camp Nou so far has been characterized by series of injury – leaving him with just five appearances in all competitions since his arrival last August.
And he is about to face stiffer competition with the signing of Brazilian forward, Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool during the January transfer window.
With the continuous rumour linking the current Spanish League leaders in a swoop for Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, Dembele might be surplus to requirements at the end of the day.
This will give the Premier League outfit an advantage to land the youngster, considering the fact that he would be reuniting with his old teammates Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Wenger is interested in bringing Dembele to the Emirates and turn him into the ‘new Thierry Henry’.

If the Gunners successfully sign the former Dortmund player, he will be adding to the strong attack Arsenal have built with the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette.
The north Londoners will have a chance to test their attack in Europe this evening when they face Ostersunds in the first leg of their Europa League last 32 tie. They are also sixth on the Premier League table – with eight points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
Dembele spent just one season in the German Bundesliga, following his move from his French side, Rennes in the 2016/17 season where he scored 6 goals in 32 matches.
Prior to his move to the Black and Yellows, the 20-year-old scored 12 goals in 26 games for the Red and Blacks three seasons back.
