Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he was closed to dumping his Real Madrid club side for French Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint Germain in 2012.
The 33-year-old striker joined the Galacticos in the summer of 2009 from Manchester United in the then world record fee valued around £84.60 million, having spent six years at Old Trafford.
But the striker was reported to have informed his close friends how confident he was to joining PSG back then, hoping that the French media would champions his campaign for winning the Ballon d’Or award at the club.
Since his arch rival, Lionel Messi had gone to win the award four times (2009-2012) in a row from the first time he (Ronaldo) first won it in 2008.
"I want to go to Paris and I will be truly appreciated, the French will be happy to have me in their league and the media will campaign in my favor to win the Ballon d'Or," read the alleged text.
Meanwhile, Real’s president Florentino Perez in a twist to the story was said to have threatened to sign the Barcelona superstar if Ronaldo had joined the Parisians.
"You tell me this when the transfer window is closed?" it's claimed Perez said to Ronaldo.
"You find me a club that puts € 200 million on the table. With this money I can pay the termination clause of (Lionel) Messi and put him in your place!"
The Portuguese forward, like any other player started his career in his home country with Sporting CP in the 2002-03 season and he scored just three goals in 25 matches.

He signed a £17.10 million with the Red Devils in 2003 and recorded 84 goals in 196 appearances for the club, with a Champions League title, three Premier League trophies, one FA Cup, three EFL Cups and one Community Shield while at the club.
Ronaldo, since he joined Real Madrid in 2009 has won addition three more Champions League title to bring his tally to four – having won his first Uefa elite competition title in 2008 after beating Chelsea in a penalty shootout.
The 33-year-old has also won several individual awards which includes five Ballon d'Or awards.
